Padel isn’t a passing trend — it’s a genuine phenomenon. Born in Mexico in the 1960s and exploding in popularity across Spain, Sweden, the UAE and now the UK, padel has become the fastestgrowing sport in the world, with participation numbers climbing year after year across every age group. Why? Because padel strips away the barriers that keep people off other racket sports. Courts are smaller, games are shorter, and the enclosed walls keep rallies alive far longer than tennis — which means more time actually playing, not chasing balls. It’s genuinely easy to pick up in your first session, brutally competitive once you’re hooked, and — above all — properly social. Doubles-only, side-by-side, easy banter between points: padel is built for friendship as much as fitness. We watched padel take off across Europe years before it properly arrived here, and we knew Burnham needed a home for it.
If padel is the sport that’s already arrived, pickleball is the one right behind it. Originally American, pickleball has grown at an extraordinary rate over the last few years and is now one of the fastest-growing participation sports in the UK too — driven by the same appeal that makes padel so addictive: easy to learn, seriously fun, and social from the very first rally. We’ve watched pickleball’s rise closely, and we’re backing it. Our Chesham site will bring a dedicated pickleball court alongside padel from day one — giving players early access to both of the sports leading the racket-sports boom, under one roof, one membership, one community.
Our mission is simple: make world-class racket sports genuinely accessible to everyday communities — not exclusive clubs, not citycentre price tags, just brilliant courts, fair pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere, built in the towns people actually live in. We believe great sport builds great communities. Every court we build is designed to bring people together — families out for a weekend hit, first-timers nervous about their first rally, seasoned players chasing their next league win, local schools introducing kids to a sport for life. Our vision goes beyond one town. We’re building a network of community-first padel and pickleball venues, working hand-in-hand with local councils at every step — starting with Burnham and Chesham, and growing wherever there’s a community ready for it. Same quality, same values, every single time. That’s the Padel Powerhouse promise: built by locals, for locals — one court, one community, at a time.
Padel Powerhouse began the way most good ideas do — with two people who knew their hometown better than anyone else. Long before either of them picked up a padel racket, they were pupils at school in Burnham, growing up on the same streets, in the same community.Years later, that hometown connection became the foundation of a business. Rather than build somewhere new and unfamiliar, they chose to start exactly where they started — bringing a world-class padel facility to the town that shaped them first. Burnham is just the beginning. The plan has always been to take the same model — quality courts, genuine community focus, and a hometown-first mentality — into new towns and new communities, starting with Chesham and growing from there. Every new venue will carry the same DNA: built by people who care about the places they build in, not just the sport itself.
